Emotional intelligence
Do you find yourself reacting in unhealthy ways? Or saying no to people? These are a couple of examples where a lack of emotional maturity shows up.
You are not alone
One major issue is that we tend to see others having there life’s “together”. Or that the are seemingly happier than we are. This thought process can lead us to unhealthy thoughts of “if only” we had this or did that then we could be happy like them. It is a false promise and doesn’t help.
To be there for others
The word selfish has taking a bad meaning. We equate taking care of our self as not looking out for others. But what happens when we don’t look out for ourselves we then can fall in to despair or resentment, in which we might do good acts, but with a bad heart. When we take care of ourselves, it allows us to be free and loving to actually help and care for others
Who are you living your life for
Seems a bit ridiculous, but when you look deeper into the decisions we make and why we choose to certain paths, we’ll tend to see that it is to impress someone else. Could be parents, significant other, or just friends. Either way learning how to live for yourself can be more difficult than it sounds.
The time is now
While change and real transformation takes a long time and can seem overwhelming, the only thing we can control is what we do today. Making just one change in one day can lead to a great sense of accomplishment, which can propel us to want to do even more. That energy moving forward can push you. Don’t try to do everything, just make that first step right now.
Philosophy
The majority of my studies are in the areas of philosophy, theology, and psychology. I’ve learned about and continue to explore how and why we feel the way that we do. To me, understanding our thought processes and emotions allows us to see them in a different light. Through this process we don’t just constantly react — instead, we act in ways that are helpful not only to ourselves but also to the world around us. It has been a complete blessing and privilege to do this work and see individuals living such healthier, more fulfilling lives.Learn the steps you can take toward living a fuller life.
There is a risk in choosing to open yourself to seeing in a different way. There’s a risk in the unknown of how this may affect your life. It may feel easier to just keep doing things the same way.
But there is a much greater risk in not doing anything and waking up years later with the same issues preventing you from enjoying all that life has to offer.
